Tunable electronic lenses using gradient polymer network liquid crystal ~PNLC! cells were demonstrated. By changing the photomask pattern, both positive and negative lenses were fabricated. The advantages of such a PNLC lens are low operation voltage, large aperture size, and simple electrode design.
